The name Srinagar is a combination of two Sanskrit words: "Sri" meaning "Lakshmi" or prosperity, and "Nagar" meaning "city
Srinagar is a city in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region.[1] It is the largest city and summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir
It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dried fruits. The city is located on both the sides of the Jhelum River, which is called Vyath in Kashmir
Srinagar has many places of interest, including:
- Dal Lake: A well-known attraction with "floating gardens" and houseboats
- Shalimar and Nishat gardens: Mughal gardens in the vicinity of Srinagar
- Hazratbal Mosque: A mosque that contains a hair that is said to have belonged to the Prophet Muhammad
