The past nobody knows [Part 7]
Setting of the story:In a bell tower on Poveglia Island
Jack with a tone of concern," It feels like it has been abandoned for like years. But why would he call us here.I see no trace of any human being."
After a thorough search...
Alex looking upwards said,"Look up there I see a light emerging out the window I think we should go up."
Chris replied him in assurance,"Yeah, let us go up there."
Three of them started walking up the tower,Jack still terrified by looking at those broken monuments and the thought of those patients made him feel more horrified. But he still continued to support his friends.Chris walking up his feets shaking with nervousness not knowing what he is going to discover further.Meanwhile Alex was confident and bit of concerned.
Reaching up they saw a whole set up of computers. They could see that for long time they had been watched by a strange man because the cameras had setted up.
The Strange man laughed out he had a old Spanish cigarette in his hands.

Internal monologue
Seven years. Seven years of silence, of watching the world move on while one truth rotted beneath it. Mateo hadn’t come to Venice for closure. He’d come for confrontation. For the chance to say what should have been said at the funeral, when the casket was lowered and everyone nodded like death had been polite. It hadn’t. It had been precise. And someone had made it so.
Chris with tears in his eyes slightly moving his hand on picture mumermed slowly mom I miss you.But he controlled his tears and with trembling voice he asked,"Can u tell me more things you remember about her."
Mateo continued,"I remember every moment I spent with her not only as colleague but as a good friend.I still remember the last time we met it was a month before the terrible thing happened. We met at a cafe where she mentioned about celebrating your birthday. She had asked me mange the event and to be honest I was honoured to do so.But then news came to me about the accident,I was sad and tears couldn't stop down my eyes because I had lost a friend of mine who was a pure gem.I came to visit you on the funeral, but then I learned you were taken to abroad by your uncle.Time flies fast right, it has been almost 7 years."
Jack said interrupting him,"well, what even if we believe you. why would you call us over an abandoned Island. And send a creepy note."
Mateo replied,"well i am afraid to tell you all.Although she was my best friend, she was also someone whom I loved for my whole life.To the world it was accident but the truth is she and her husband were were murdered."
Chris kept quiet listening to what was going on.
Alex said,"What do you mean murder.Do you know who was behind it?"
Mateo replied,"Maybe I know something that I shouldn't know and so my life is in danger. "and to answer Jack's question he said,"I called you here because no one comes here often. After chris left,I have been searching for him and yeah I found a lot of information.I learned about Alex's power and maybe these can be used to find evidence towards what I have searched for."
Alex asked,"What has put your life in danger and what things you have found out about chris parents?"

A seen back from 7 years...
EXT. BACK ALLEY BEHIND A BAR – NIGHT
The alley behind the bar is slick with rain, puddles reflecting fractured neon from the sign above. The hum of the city feels distant here, muffled by the narrow walls and the weight of something unspoken.
MATTEO steps out from the bar’s side door, his collar turned up against the drizzle. He’s been nursing a bad feeling all evening, ever since Rico and Jay slipped out mid-drink without a word. He follows them now, careful not to be seen.
Up ahead, RICO and JAY stand beneath a rusted fire escape, half-lit by a flickering streetlamp. Their voices are low, but Matteo catches fragments.
RICO
(quiet, clipped)
Boss said no mess. Quick and clean.
JAY
(grinning)
It was clean. They're not breathing, are they?
Matteo’s breath catches. He ducks behind a dumpster, heart thudding. He leans forward, straining to hear more.
From the shadows, a third figure emerges.
Tall. Poised. Wrapped in a black dress that clings like smoke. A wide-brimmed hat veils her face entirely, but her presence is unmistakable—commanding, cold. She doesn’t walk so much as glide.
WOMAN
(smooth, deliberate)
Is it done?
RICO
(nods)
Yes. Both of them. Lily and her husband. No witnesses.
Matteo’s world tilts. His stomach knots. Lily—his friend. Her husband. Gone?
The woman laughs. It’s soft, melodic, and terrifying. The kind of laugh that doesn’t belong in an alley or after a murder. It lingers in the air like perfume.
Matteo stumbles backward, knocking over a loose bottle. The clatter rings out like a gunshot.
Silence.
The woman’s head turns sharply toward the sound. Rico’s hand goes to his coat—too fast.
MATTEO bolts, slipping on the wet pavement, heart hammering. He doesn’t look back.
EXT. CITY STREETS – CONTINUOUS
Matteo runs through the maze of alleys, breath ragged. He doesn’t know where he’s going—only that he needs to get away. The image of Lily’s smile flashes in his mind. Her laugh. Her kindness.
He stops beneath a flickering streetlight, gasping. His hands tremble as he pulls out his phone. No signal. Of course.
He leans against the wall, trying to piece it together. Why Lily? Why her husband? What did they get caught up in?
And who was that woman?
A voice echoes from the alley behind him.
JAY (O.S.)
You hear that?
RICO (O.S.)
He ran. But he saw.
MATTEO slips into the shadows again, disappearing into the night.
